Austin is one of the most popular places for so-called porch pirates, but Round Rock- not so much.
That’s thanks in large part to Round Rock Police Department’s successful Operation Front Porch Program. The program allows people to have packages ordered online delivered to the Round Rock Police Department. People then have three days to pick up those packages once they are delivered.
Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks says last year Round Rock residents had over 380 packages sent to the police station and all were picked up without any problems. The program runs through mid-December, right before Christmas.
