Austin Police Chief Brian Manley has a message for survivors of sexual assault and rape.
A DPS report that showed APD misreported and improperly closed several rape cases. Chief Manley doesn’t believe any will be reopened as each was fully investigated. However following the controversy he had something to say to survivors. He says although there have been issues that his department is one that takes those issues head on.
That’s why he wants to see a third party come in and look at how the department handles these investigations, to ensure its being done right.
