UPDATE:
The Texas Supreme Court says ballot language for Austin voters regarding the land development code and an efficiency audit of the city can go as written. Councilmember Ellen Troxclair wanted that language changed, but added at least the people will still get to have a say.
The City issued a statement saying the language confirms to legal requirements and represents key features of both citizen initiated petitions. Troxclair hopes voter say yes to an audit of the city, no matter the language.
The State Supreme Court is expected to rule soon on the confusing ballot language concerning an efficiency audit on the City of Austin.
Councilmember Ellen Troxclair said despite resistance from others on Council and staff, the people need to see this efficiency audit happen.
Troxclair also said that even though the city has auditors, they can only look at programs or certify books and not the city government as a whole.
