Nearly every single dog and cat, no matter their condition, that came into the Austin Animal Shelter left there alive and that’s a big accomplishment. The Shelter’s Jennifer Olahan said the can’t be a no-kill shelter without a no-kill city but they look at their own policies and procedures for improvement. For instance if a cat gets hit by a car, most people would say euthanize it.
Olahan says their 99 percent live rate is more amazing considering the record intake they had this Summer.
