The City of Lakeway is offering free wildfire assessments for homeowners: Experts all over Texas say this year’s conditions are eerily similar to 2011, and as the fires continue to rage in California, Lakeway wildfire mitigation specialist Chris Rea says the city will send out a fire official to your home to create a site-specific mitigation plan tailored to your home. The assessment is free. Rea says it’s also vital to take steps to make your home defensible, like a Class-A roof, ignition resistant siding, and maintaining vegetation around the house.
