Authorities say three people are dead and three seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash in Central Texas.
According to the Pedernales Fire Department, one of the vehicles collided with the side of the other on Texas Highway 71 near Spicewood, northwest of Austin.
One man died at the scene, and two others died after being taken to area hospitals. Emergency services in Austin say two people have life-threatening injuries.
Around this same time last year, five people were killed in a wreck in the same area, officials said. This latest crash has people who live in Specwodd pleading for changes, including a reduction in speed at the addition of a new center turn lane.
The speed limit in that area ranges from 65 to 70 miles per hour.
