Investigators with the Austin Police Department and Austin Fire Department continue to look into a death that occurred at a North Austin homeless camp just before midnight on Sunday, January 14. According to reports, the Austin Fire Department responded to a call about an outdoor fire in the 8300 block of N. Mopac. After they extinguished the fire, firefighters discovered a deceased person.
The official cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. No further information is available at this time.
