Austin Police Headquarters in downtown was built in 1976, and has begun to deteriorate over the years. Recently, APD had to fix a sewage gas leak that was creating an awful smell for people inside of the building. Assistant Chief Troy Gay says there have been discussions about finding an alternative building.
Gay says the issues have begun to affect morale. No word on when any decision might be made.
