Austin Police will be heavily patrolling area schools as classes kick off. APD Assistant Chief Justin Newsom says starting Monday, until the end of the month, officers will be keeping an extra eye on drivers as they readjust to what the school year means for traffic. In addition to that Newsom adds, if students decide to take a rentable scooter to school, the Police recommend wearing a helmet.
