City leaders pass a resolution to protect the people living there from being displaced. Council member Greg Casar said it’s about fighting back against developers who buy up those properties and turn them into office space or subdivisions.
Casar said he does not want to get rid of moble homes, but rather he wants to protect them and that single-family home developments are exclusionary and he hopes this ordinance will lead to even more mobile home parks across Austin for low-income residents.
