After some online backlash Austin City Council decided to take a motion that would ease so called homeless ordinances off the agenda for next week. The Downtown Austin Alliance’s Bill Brice said their members were alarmed this was even on the agenda. Brice explained this will give city staffers more time to collect public input on the ordinances.
Brice said anyone who visits or works downtown knows aggressive panhandlers are a major problem, and the motion could have removed language put there to protect people.
