Austin Public Health: Stage 5 and what you can do

Covid Vaccine doses

Austin Public Health moves the Austin Travis County area up to Stage 5 on a new updated COVID Risk chart.

Austin Travis County Health Authority Dr. Desmar Walkes says they’ve released new risk charts specifically with the fast spreading Delta variant in mind for the vaccinated, unvaccinated, and everyone else in between.

She is also calling on local businesses to step up and require masking and social distancing and more within their staff and among their customers. She say owners and operators can make the,  “decisions to require vaccinations of their vaccinations of their patrons and members, and we would support those that do so.” She is also asking restaurants and stores to shift back to a more COVID minded business model with curb-side and contactless services at the forefront.

Just the other day Austin ISD held a virtual townhall about reopening and Dr. Walkes is supporting AISD’s strong recommendation for students to wear a mask. “If you tell an ISD school that your child should wear a mask, that will be honored. And that child will wear a mask and have great school year.”
