An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body Thursday morning.
The Austin Fire Department responded to a call of a large boat on fire in front of a home in the 900 block of East 56th Street. Once the fire was under control, firefighters made a grizzly discovery: the smoldering body of a man inside of the boat.
Austin-Travis County EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
His identity is not yet known.
The Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into the death.
No other details are known.
