Contract talks still stalled

The back and forth continues between the Austin police union and the city council. The Austin Police Association says morale is at an all-time low, and it comes amid a growing rift between council members like Jimmy Flannigan.  And as the union says APD pay is lagging behind other major cities, Mayor Steve Adler says he doesn’t believe that. But according to the police union, officers are losing out on about $800 a month at a minimum without a contract, which expired in late-December, and the union says that’s a huge reason so many officers are jumping ship and heading elsewhere.
