After a long and expensive campaign against M.J. Hegar, Senator John Cornyn wins re-election. The race was right much of the night, but Cornyn began to stretch his lead as the night progressed. This will be Cornyn’s fourth term in the U.S. Senate. It was Hegar’s first time running for statewide office after losing a close race for Congress two years ago to Representative John Carter.
