The Central Texas Food Bank is expanding its Feeding Futures School Pantry program to six additional Austin ISD campuses: Barbara Jordan, Katherine A. Cook, Ortega, Padrón, Pérez, and Walnut Creek elementary schools. According to officials with the Central Texas Food Bank, each campus was selected due to high levels of economic need, as well as a large concentration of families qualifying for free and reduced meals.
The pantry will serve all AISD families, offering access to fresh produce, dairy, protein, and pantry staples in a market-style environment.
Since the program launched in 2024, the Central Texas Food Bank has partnered with eight different school districts within its 21-county service area to help students and caregivers stabilize their household food supply while strengthening long-term well-being. These pantries, officials say, reduce transportation barriers and create a reliable support system directly within school communities.
