Two teens have been charged with four counts of burglary of a motor vehicle following a string of car burglaries in Kyle.

At approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, June 15, Kyle police officers responded to a report of a car burglary in progress in the 400 block of Covent Drive. Officers located and detained two teens, identified as Jahaziel Duenas Velazquez, 17, and David Sosa Cepeda, 17, both of Kyle.

As the investigation continued, officers reportedly discovered that three additional vehicles in the area had been burglarized, which matched reports. They also recovered loaded handgun magazines, as well as other stolen items. According to Kyle PD, one of the teens admitted to the burglaries during questioning, as well as additional burglaries committed the previous day in a nearby neighborhood.

A separate report led officers to additional stolen property inside the garage of an unrelated home. As a result, warrants for an additional charge of burglary of a habitation are expected.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may follow.
