The Lago Vista Independent School District has canceled all classes for Thursday and Friday due to a major outbreak of the flu. There are four campuses across the 1500-student district, and all have been closed so crews can clean and disinfect the buildings.
Just last week, all classes in Bastrop County’s McDade school district were canceled for the same reason.
The problem is also being felt in the Austin school district where hundreds of kids at Bailey Middle School have fallen ill, however AISD has not opted to cancel classes there.
Lago Vista ISD officials expect the schools to reopen on Monday.
