An officer-involved shooting in San Marcos left a man dead. The incident started with a call to police about a man shooting a pistol at cars downtown. Police quickly found the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Hopkins and Bishop streets. San Marcos Police Chief Chase Stapp says that’s when 27-year-old John Comacho of Canyon Lake got out of the car and reached for a weapon. He was shot by officers and died at the scene. The weapon turned out to be a pellet pistol that was designed to look like the real thing. Stapp says the investigation is ongoing. Stapp says Comacho had a long criminal record and was currently on parole.
