We know a little more about a man who was found dead over the weekend at a central Austin gas station.

The Austin Police Department said Gregory Mireles, who is believed to have been homeless, likely died of hypothermia after being out in the frigid temps for too long.

“We have experienced the first fatality related to this winter storm.” said Austin Mayor Kirk Watson in a Sunday press conference. “It was an exposure fatality.”

Austin-Travis County EMS responded to more than 400 calls for service throughout the weekend, and nearly three-dozen were related to hypothermia.

City officials say around 850 people were given shelter during the winter storm.

Officials continue to investigate Mireles’ death, but police have said that they do not suspect any foul play.

There were no reports of any other fatalities. Across the nation, more than 30 people have died in connection to the winter storm.
