Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty is voicing a full-throated opposition to the proposed $7.1-billion overhaul of Austin’s public transit. Daugherty says tax bills will rise on by 24.5% in the city. He says it’s “insulting” that Austin would ask voters to approve something of this magnitude during one of the worst economic disasters the area has seen in its history.
