Overnight, heavy rain and wind swept through the Austin-area, toppling some power lines, knocking down branches, and leaving some area low-water crossings closed down.

In East Austin, rescue crews were forced to cut their way through a small trailer to rescue a man and a woman who became trapped inside.  Their small trailer in the Oak Forest RV Park was blown over, according to officials.  Both people were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatning injuries.

So much rain fell that Lake Travis’ water level has risen by nearrly three inches.  That has led to some flooding near Spicewood along the Pedernales River.  The Lower Colorado River Authority is also reporting some mild flooding along Cypress Creek.

At one point, more than 9000 Austin Energy customers were without power.  Some of the outages also affected parts of Pflugerville.
