The City of Pflugerville has been awarded $750,000 in federal Community Project Funding, which officials said will go toward new water infrastructure.
This funding will support the development of a new water infrastructure project that will strengthen service capacity and support continued growth along the State Highway 45 corridor.
The project includes the design and construction of a 5.0 million gallons per day pump station and a 1.25 million gallon ground storage tank located in the northwest corner of the intersection of State Highway 130 and State Highway 45. The facility will serve the 960-foot pressure zone and provide essential pumping capacity needed to accommodate existing and future development.
As development continues along the State Highway 45 corridor, the new pump station and ground storage tank are required to fully serve higher-density projects enabled through recent corridor amendments. While the extension of the discharge line is currently under design, it can only support a limited number of connections until the pump station and storage tank are constructed and operational.
“This investment ensures that infrastructure keeps pace with growth and that our community continues to receive safe, reliable service,” said Mayor Weiss. “Federal Community Project Funding allows us to accelerate a critical project that supports both current residents and future development. We are grateful for Congressman Pete Sessions’ support in investing in Pflugerville’s infrastructure.”
The federal funding was included in H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026, which passed both chambers of Congress and was signed into law by President Donald Trump on January 23, 2026.
“I am proud to have secured this funding for Pflugerville and for the people of Texas’ 17th Congressional District,” said Congressman Sessions. “Announcing this investment today with Mayor Weiss underscores our shared commitment to strengthening local infrastructure and ensuring our community is prepared for the future.”
The project is currently under design and will play a key role in meeting the City’s long-term water service needs.
