Teachers ask: Where’s the money?

piles of cash

Governor Abbott says he wants to see teachers making six-figure salaries, but plenty of teachers across the state want to know where he plans to come up with that money.  Abbott said at a round-table discussion this week in Austin that the best teachers should be making no less than $100,000 a year, but Clay Robison with the Texas State Teachers Association thinks Abbott is just making empty promises in an election year. He says some districts have adopted a merit-based system that works to some degree, but he says the starting salaries are still far too low.
