The future look of public schools is now in the hands of a Senate Committee

School finance reform is taking center stage in the Senate Education Committee. It’s taking up both the Senate and House versions of the overhaul bills. The House bill would increase funding $9-billion dollars with two billion more in tax relief.

The Senate is pushing for a $5-thousand dollar raise for teachers and librarians.

Larry Taylor Chairs the committee and said we are doing something similar to the Dallas ISDA program where the best teachers and principals were paid more money and paid them even more if they went to a more challenging campus.

School finance reform is one of Governor Abbott’s top emergency items for the state.
