The City of Pflugerville is out with a new report regarding allegations of unprofessional behavior by now-former Chief of Police Jason O’Malley, who left the department back in May.
The city called for a third-party investigation after allegations surfaced that O’Malley pointed his gun at a lieutenant and threatened to shoot him in the foot. Reportedly, O’Malley then holstered his weapon and smirked.
“While the actions in question did not endanger the public, they did not align with the expectations we hold for leadership in our police department,” said City Manager Sereniah Breland. “We took immediate and appropriate action to address this with the seriousness it deserves.”
During the course of the investigation, O’Malley retired from his position. Two other commanders — Makeba Lewis and Jared Thyssen — also resigned in connection to the incident.
The parties involved have chosen not to pursue criminal charges.
