The Austin Police Department has arrested a pair of teens in connection to a multi-agency investigation.
Through a partnership with the Cedar Park Police Department and Austin Independent School District Police Department, the Austin Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit obtained photographs showing a person who was in possession of several firearms stolen during an attempted auto theft. Many of the stolen firearms were National Firearms Act regulated items that are restricted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at a home and recovered eight firearms, including multiple silencers and short-barreled rifles, from one of the teen’s bedroom.
APD detectives secured three arrest warrants for Possession of Prohibited Weapons against the primary suspect. A second suspect was also identified, leading to four additional warrants for the same charge.
Both were booked into the Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center.
