The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house to discuss the proposed improvements to US 79 from I-35 to east of FM 1460, on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 at the PFC Robert P. Hernandez Middle School cafeteria, located at 1901 Sunrise Road, in Round Rock. The meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation, so attendees can come and go at their convenience.
Proposed improvements include
- Widening the existing US 79 roadway to include an additional travel lane in each direction
- Installing a raised median for safety
- Intersection improvements (potentially including overpasses at US 79/North Mays Street and US 79/FM 1460 and alterations to the US 79/I-35 intersection)
- Modifying driveways and access points to improve safety and traffic flow
- Adding shared-use paths on both sides of US 79 to provide improved pedestrian and bicycle accommodations
Maps, drawings and project information will be on display and project team members will be available to answer questions
