UPDATE: APD releases statement after officers taken to hospital on “Toxic Exposure” call

Official statement from APD:

Early this morning two Austin Police Officers were working together in the same vehicle and started feeling nauseous and got headaches. The officers rolled down the windows and drove to the south sub to get a different vehicle. Once at the sub, EMS and AFD responded to evaluate the officers. The vehicle had a strong odor so AFD tested it for carbon monoxide with negative results. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for tests, where they were treated and released. The vehicle was pulled from service and will be inspected for any leaks.
