5pm UPDATE:
Two people riding in a helicopter in northeast Williamson County are dead after it crashed in a cotton field south of Granger. Sheriff Robert Chody said, from what they could tell it was a local aircraft that took off from Georgetown Airport about a half hour before the crash. Chody said the helicopter got caught in power lines when it went down and started a small fire.
So far, investigators have more questions than answers on what brought the chopper to the area. State and federal investigators on looking into the crash.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a downed helicopter near Granger on CR 346. Sheriff Robert Chody reports their approach to the downed aircraft is being hampered by electrical power lines. It is not known how many people were aboard the small helicopter.
