Austin’s Restaurant Industry could see a drop in the number of jobs after the paid sick leave ordinance takes effect.
Tom Kenny of Napa Flats says so-called Fast-Casual Restaurants use less floor staff and sees that business model becoming the norm. He says the impending ordinance isn’t going to help regain those lost jobs.
The ordinance takes effect October 1st and Kenny wants to meet with city staffers before that, to workshop ideas on how this is supposed to work.
