Gov. Abbott Unveils ‘Damon Allen’ Act, New Voting System Purchased for Travis County, and Funding Approved to Expand Lanes at FM 2222 and RM 620

Hour one of the Todd and Don Show:  

• Governor Greg Abbott unveiled the “Damon Allen Act,” a set of proposals to reform the bail system in Texas to protect law enforcement and enhance public safety

• Ohio Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson claimed victory over Democrat Danny O’Connor in a special election in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District

• The Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney’s Office is reviewing the Stand Your Ground shooting of Clearwater, Florida resident Markeis McGlockton

• TECH NEWS:

-Elon Musk tweeted he is considering to take Tesla private which caused a stir in the stock market

-Amazon is launching curbside pick-up at Whole Foods stores

• Travis County approves purchase of $8M paper-trail voting system to be implemented in 2019

•TxDOT recently approved funding for Project 1 at the intersection of 2222 and 620 that will add lanes


Hour three of the Todd and Don Show:

•Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading a 10-state coalition in a lawsuit against the federal government to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA)

•The Texas Education Agency will release whether school districts earned an A, B, C, D or F and whether campuses earned a rating of ‘met standard’ or ‘improvement required,’ based on performance in the 2017-18 school year

• New Austin ISD Police Chief Ashley Gonzalez says AISD has hired new officers to increase security and will be keeping an eye on drivers running stop arms on school buses


Hour four of the Todd and Don Show:

• Charter schools continue their rapid expansion in Central Texas, and likely will enroll 30,000 students in dozens of campuses this school year Charter school student enrollment has increased in Austin

• Todd & Don discuss what to do on an interview for a job including what questions to ask
