Monday 10/27

Early voting numbers in Travis County are low as only 4% of registered voters have cast a ballot so far, a homeless man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred inside Austin’s downtown central library and the state of Texas is seeing an almost double digit percent drop off in tourists.

Tuesday 10/28

On this episode Todd and Oz talk to Austin Fire Association President Bob Nix about staffing budget issues. They also talk about new details about the man accused of a shooting at the Downtown Austin Library on Saturday, along with conversations about Proposition Q.

Wednesday 10/29

The latest campaign finance reports show that opponents of Austin’s Prop Q have outraised and outspent proponents of the tax rate election, Austin Energy says a printing error is to blame for some customers receiving multiple bills and local food banks are struggling to keep up with demand as SNAP benefits could potentially run out for millions of Americans.

Thursday 10/30

A vote on government funding isn’t expected until next week as the shutdown enters day 30 and SNAP benefits are set to run out, multiple neighborhood associations in Austin have passed resolutions stating to vote no on Prop Q and President Trump is touting a successful meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

Friday 10/31

Austin ISD today will release an updated consolidation plan, which could close up to 13 schools as the district faces a $20 million budget shortfall and 25,000 empty seats Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Rangers to investigate the City of Elgin over allegations of chronic financial mismanagement and potential violations of state law. The federal government shutdown has reached its 31st day. Programs such as SNAP and Head Start will lose their funding starting tomorrow unless funding is restored.
