High-ranking officials in Austin accused of gender bias

Three women have sued high-ranking Austin and Travis County officials over claims of gender bias in sexual assault investigations.  Attorney Jennifer Ecklund says from the DA’s office to the police department and sheriff’s office, women have been held hostage by a lack of justice, she also said that due to these discriminatory policies that are a disadvantage to woman and allow rapists to walk free.

The defendants include APD Chief Brian Manley, DA Margaret Moore, and Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez.

The suit seeks monetary damages, and demands a change to the way investigations are handled so that the attackers face stiff punishments, and not the victims.
