LOS ANGELES (AP) — An attorney representing two Michael Jackson accusers who appear in a new documentary says their sexual-abuse allegations have not been discredited as the Jackson estate says.
Attorney Vince Finaldi says Thursday that lawsuits from Wade Robson and James Safechuck alleging Jackson molested them when they were young boys were dismissed on technical grounds, not on their merits. The dismissals are under appeal.
HBO and British broadcaster Channel 4 announced Wednesday that the documentary, “Leaving Neverland,” would air in the spring after it premieres Jan. 25 at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Jackson estate denounced the documentary, calling it an outrageous rehash of discredited allegations.
The film’s director Dan Reed says it took great courage for Robson and Safechuck to tell their stories and he has no doubts about their validity.
