A series of cash register thefts in November led to a multi-agency investigation that resulted in charges against three Houston-area suspects connected to commercial burglaries from Kyle to Houston.
According to the Kyle Police Department, the thefts occurred on Nov. 12, 2025, when the suspects targeted multiple Poco Loco restaurant locations, stealing cash registers as they traveled from the Kyle area toward Houston.
Investigators with the Kyle Police Department and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office worked together to identify the suspects and link them to additional burglary investigations across the region.
Authorities have charged Cedric Ryan Scales Jr., 19; Isaiah Jacob Jaramillo, 23; and Ca’Den Dejuan Johnson, 21, all of Houston, with burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity.
Hays County Sheriff Anthony Hipolito praised the cooperation between agencies.
“I’m grateful for my relationship with Chief Barnett and the Kyle Police Department,” Hipolito said. “I’m thoroughly impressed with the collaboration and dedication shown by investigators from both agencies.”
Kyle Police Chief Dr. Jeff Barnett said the arrests highlight the importance of regional cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
“These arrests are the result of strong collaboration between our department and partner law enforcement agencies,” Barnett said. “By working together, we were able to identify and apprehend these suspects and hold them accountable for crimes committed across the region.”
Authorities say Johnson was arrested Dec. 8, 2025, by the Angleton Police Department in connection with a separate robbery. Jaramillo was taken into custody Jan. 13, 2026, by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, and Scales was arrested March 5, 2026, also by the task force.
Officials say all three arrests were connected to a separate stolen firearms investigation in Angleton, Texas.
