Dispute over parking meters at city parks

City Staffers and boards are looking at adding parking meters to more city parks.

That idea, however, is not sitting well with some on the City’s Parks and Recs Board. Boardmember Laura Cottam-Sajbel tells members of the Austin Transportation Department that the tax payers already are paying for their parking as is.

The Transportation Department argues that the meters could help with congestion by incentivizing folks to use other forms of transit aside from their own vehicles.
