Officials in Hays County have made an arrest in a string of robberies dating back to January.  Rudy Joe Luis Romero, 18, of Kyle is now charged with four felonies, including two counts of Aggravated Robbery.

Between Thursday, January 25 and Saturday, February 3 Kyle Police officers responded to the following robberies:

  • 7-11 on Hill Street/I-35 Northbound Frontage Rd. on 1/25/24
  • 7-11 on South Loop 4/I-35 Southbound Frontage Rd. on 2/1/24
  • Speed-In Shell Station on Creekside Trl. at FM 150 on 2/3/24

In the first two incidents, police say Romero demanded money while holding his hand under his jacket as though to indicate he had a firearm. In the final incident, Romero reportedly displayed what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband.

Similar robberies were committed in San Marcos, Buda, and Hays County over the course of the last two weeks.

Hays County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Romero following a short foot pursuit.

Romero is being held in the Hays County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Evading Arrest
