ATX health leaders hint at lowered COVID restrictions

COVID 19 HOSPITALIZATIONS UT PREDICTION GETTING WORSE

Austin is inching ever-closer to Stage 2 COVID restrictions. Health Authority Mark Escott says the UT model predicts we could reach that point by April 13th.

He explains to the Travis County Commissioners Court and Austin City Council, “Hospitalizations were at 149 yesterday, with a moving average of 152.” By his math he adds, “that’s a decrease of 46% since the beginning of March.”

By April 15th, the UT model predicts there will be fewer than 30 people in the ICU in Travis County.

In nursing homes, which were hit extremely hard in the early days of the pandemic, there have only been six new cases in the past two weeks.
