CTRMA looking to crack down on toll road scofflaws

Traffic

The Mobility Authority prepares to crackdown on habitual toll violators.
On Wednesday, CTRMA will vote on contracts with Williamson and Travis Counties for the necessary manpower and equipment to identify and help hold toll road scofflaws accountable.  CTRMA’s Tracie Brown said those with 100 or more unpaid tolls in a 12-month period will be the targets, “This is continued behavior…were not talking about the ‘I missed a toll bill or I’m late on a payment.”
Brown says deputies will be providing enforcement, “they’ll be fed information from our toll operations group, about who these people are, what their travel habits are, what the vehicle’s look like.”
Punishments could run the gamut, from citations and impounding to arrests and a flat ban from toll road usage.  The agreements with each county will span one year each.
