Explosive growth along Manchaca in far South Austin prompts TxDOT to propose an improvement project. They’re planning to widen Manchaca from two to four lanes with a center turn lane from Ravenscroft to FM 1626. TxDOT’s Brad Wheelis says that’s not all. Wheelis also said that by 2035 traffic is going to increase by more than 38{91a3a066265893d5d93b921204e5bbe4720deb431f82cc483a406ec22b140854}.
The expansion would also include bicycle lanes, sidewalks and drainage improvements. They hope to have it open by Summer 2021.
