Council could consider impact fees for developers

The City of Austin may soon impose street impact fees that would be charged to developers who break ground on new projects.  Liane Miller with the Transportation Department says the fees would be based on a variety of factors, including geography.

That means, depending on where a developer wants to build, they would be subject to paying one of 17 unique fees based on the area of town, and that money would fund future road projects.  The city council will set a public hearing date on Thursday.
